It's a sunny day. There's not a cloud in the sky. You're resting in bed. Your cheeks hurt you've been smiling so much. You look out the window to a beautiful sunset. Your dear husband hasn't stopped giggling for hours. You've spoken to every one of your friends and family who have had only nice things to say to you. There are beautiful fresh cut flowers and balloons sitting next to your bed. It's been a wonderful day. You guessed it...You've just been blessed with a beautiful, sweet brand new baby.
Now indulge me one more scene:
You're boating in the deep blue sea, miles from land. It's nighttime now and a storm has hit. You're being tossed around in your boat. Lightning is flashing. Thundering is roaring. You've been thrown from the boat. You're sinking in the water. On your way overboard, something hit you in the chest. You look down to find something has pierced your heart. You can't breathe. You are scared. You are helpless. And oh the ache in your heart. You think it would just be best to succumb to death than to live this horrible nightmare.
This is the pain of losing that very same child. And it's been over a hundred days now. It doesn't get easier. Things never return to normal.
