A Day in the Life of...Me!

I awakened this morning to the constant BEEP-BEEP-BEEP of a truck backing up, thirty minutes before my alarm clock. After changing diapers, making breakfast, and feeding children, [we] decide (ten minutes before time to leave) to drop hubby off at work today. So we rush around to find socks, shoes, fill up milk cup, grap bottle of tea, and hop in the car. I figured we were already out, so we might as well go to the park to let the kids get some energy out. Hubby mentions that we ought to head to the zoo. Sure, that sounds good. So we drop him off and head over there. The weather today, although very mild compared to the 108 that central Texas has been seeing lately, was pretty warm and very sunny. And the zoo is a good mile and a half completely uphill, which I happily trudged while pushing 90 pounds worth of kids in a stroller. We glided down hill to the car, hungry, dehydrated, crabby, and sunburned; wish I had planned a little better for this. I figured we'd get home and everybody could get a good nap after lunch. The two babies were out cold before I'd pulled out of the parking lot. There goes that nap... Well, we're in the area anyway so we stop for lunch with Papa. A greasy fast food lunch, hugs, kisses, a couple of miles and we're home. I make a phone call and talk for a few minutes when I discover that the babies are being awfully quiet. Not good. I peek in the kitchen to discover that they have redecorated the place in a wonderful mud brown and I am down one tomato sprout, that makes two surviving of about 30. Two baths, one good sweeping, one good mopping, a wipe down of cabinets and walls (Thank God for my tiny kitchen), two new diapers and you'd never know it happened. I'm determined to catch my breath as I'm still exhausted from the morning trek, so I put on The Spectacular Spiderman and we all sit down on the couch to veg. That is until the credits at the end roll and the theme song plays. Can't sit for that. Gotta get up and dance. And if you happen to be holding a ball, it MUST be thrown. And that full glass of ice tea you just made yourself and put way up on the mantle so as to be safe from kids? Well, it shatters on the ground. So you banish one kid to his bedroom and the two babies to the couch while you cut your fingers as you pick up all the tiny little shards of sticky glass. Well, it looks like I need to end this here, as I hear Isaac saying his noodles fell on the floor, fifteen feet away from him. 8:00 bedtime for everyone tonight! That is until we get up to go pick Daddy up... Well, tomorrow's got to be better, right? Otherwise, I know a few positions open at some local hospitals. Maybe I'll look into it...

A Quote

How can it be a large career to tell other people's children about the Rule of Three, and a small career to tell one's own children about the universe?
How can it be broad to be the same thing to everyone, and narrow to be everything to someone? No. A woman's function is laborious, but because it is gigantic, not because it is minute. I will pity Mrs. Jones for the hugeness of her task; I will never pity her for its smallness.
